Prater

Prater (Prater 9, Vienna) — this is a large public park, located within Vienna’s 2nd district. The Vienna Prater is entertaining and exciting, but it can also be relaxing and quiet. One part of it contains attractions ranging from a nostalgic merry-go-round to an ultra-modern roller coaster. In the other area, known as the “Green Prater,” one finds widespread meadows to lie on, shady trees, and quiet paths. There are about 250 attractions here – from casinos to auto-drome rinks.

An attraction within Prater is the “Wiener Riesenrad” – which is a 64-meter tall Ferris wheel (located at the park’s entrance). Built during the turn of the 20th century, patrons take rides on the Ferris wheel, so that that can get panoramic views of the city of Vienna. A circular trip on one of the most significant and fascinating structures in the world, and the unique view of the city of Vienna, make the Giant Ferris Wheel an absolute cultural and architectural must for every visitor to Austria’s capital.

Admission: no entry fee — each amusement park ride costs from €2.50 to €5 each, which must be paid for separately.
